Hooded Plover [Gift Card, Square], Bob & Queenie
The Hooded Plover, affectionately known as ‘Hoodies’ lives along our sandy beaches. ‘LY’ lives on the Bellarine Peninsula. They face a number of challenges for survival, including beachgoers, dogs and other prey – as breeding pairs only lay about 3 eggs, which incubate for 5 weeks over the warmer months. As an endangered species there is now much love for the ‘hoodie’; this artwork was inspired by a photograph taken by talented photographer, Kate Hope. The Hooded Plover is protected under the Victorian Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 and the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
